Wat Thai of Los Angeles

They don’t hate they appreciate. LOL. – Yeah, that was kind of lame; BUT it’s so true. Whether you’re a different kind of Asian, White, Black, Hispanic, etc.; every kind of race is welcome to look at the site and are able to taste Authentic Thai dishes.

Tokens

Bring lots of cash and bring your empty stomachs. First thing first! Wat Thai is located in North Hollywood close to the 170 freeway at 8225 Coldwater Canyon Avenue. They are open every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. However, during Saturday and Sunday, they have an outdoor “food court” that serves authentic Thai dishes from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. They have two parking lots (One off Coldwater and the other off Cantara). It gets pretty packed during the weekend and sometimes you can’t find any parking in the lots, so street parking is also an option (probably a better one).

None of the vendors take your money!!! They take tokens! So after you park, you walk over to the booth near all the dessert/fried station to exchange your money to tokens. They exchange your money to purple tokens which equals $1 and orange tokens which equals $2. If you don’t use all your tokens in the end, you can re-exchange them to real dolla dolla bills yo! 🙂

There’s about at least 10 vendors at the Temple each selling different types of food. Most of them are approx. $2~$6 each. A must get are the following:

Boat Noodles

“Hainan” Chicken

Mango Sticky Rice

Kanom Krok (Coconut Cakes)

Fried Bananas and Fried Taro

Thai Ice Tea & Jamaica Tea

After you get your food, they do have shaded areas where you can just chill and eat. Plus, they have entertainment. After you stuff your face, you can check out the rest of the place. But be respectful because there are people there that do their prayers and/or meditate.
